    Description: 
    An oval relief portrait of Daniel S. Dickinson is mounted on the front of an obelisk-shaped base. He is shown in proper right profile with hair off his forehead falling to the nape of his neck. The base has a decorative crested projection at the midpoint on each side.

    The sculpture marks the grave of Daniel S. Dickinson (1800-1866), who served as a New York State Senator and a United States Senator. The sculpture also marks the grave of Lydia Knapp Dickinson (1803-1880) and all of the Dickinson family. IAS files contain an excerpt from Marjory Barnum Hinman's "Daniel S. Dickinson: Defender of the Constitution," 1987, pg. 214.
