    Remarks:
The monument was erected by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks to honor Meade D. Detweiler, a Daulphin County district attorney who served two terms as exalted ruler of the Elks grand lodge. The monument originally included a bronze sculpture of an elk (see IAS record PA000994) and a bronze bust of Detweiler. In March 1976, vandals removed the bust of Detweiler and toppled the elk. The elk was repaired and relocated to the Elk BPOE Lodge #12. The bust was recovered from a local scrap yard, but was not reinstalled in the monument.
