Inscription:  (Top front of stele, raised:) DANA MEMORIAL (Edge of trough on front of stele, raised:) IN HONOR OF JAMES DWIGHT DANA (Center of trough on front of stele:) ERECTED BY THE DANA NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY, 1903 unsigned Description:  Rough-hewn stele with relief carvings of trilobites, crinoids, and a giant eurypterid. The front of the stele has a horse watering trough with ornamentation and inscriptions.
