    Title supplied by Inventory cataloger.
Gift of the Pauline and Lee Wiggins Foundation Inc. Dr. William Byerly, a native of Baltimore, practiced medicine in Hartsville, South Carolina from 1915 until his death in 1975. Since he delivered about 12,000 babies in the course of his career, a statue of a child was chosen to be part of the existing memorial rose garden. IAS files contain a related article from the Hartsville Messenger, Hartsville, South Carolina, April 12, 1976. The contractor for the project was Graham Segars, and the foundation and pedestal were designed by John Leach. The statue was imported from Italy.
