    Remarks:
This fountain, built to commemorate Revolutionary War officer General Robert Anderson (1741-1813), was erected by the Civic Association of the City of Anderson in May of 1906. After the Revolutionary War, Colonel Anderson was instrumental in organizing the Pendleton District, which became Anderson County, and was among the first judges to hold court there in 1790. General Anderson served in both houses of the South Carolina State Legislature, and served two terms as lieutenant governor. Later he was appointed a brigadier general in the state militia. The fountain was built by Anderson Machine & Foundry Company, now known as Foundry & Steel, Inc. The fountain was relocated at least three times, and in 1987 the fountain was moved to a county storage facility. See also Anderson Daily Mail (May 17, 1906).
