    Remarks:
(On nearby plaque near roadway, in raised caps:) ANDERSON (Right of entry:) NO. 1248 (Two small stones in front:) H.M.A./1834-1908, J.C.A./1837-1912 (One small stone in back:) H.P.A./1865-1912. The monument was said to have been executed in Rome and supplied by the monument dealer Thomas Phillips & Sons Company. The date of the piece is not known, although John C. Anderson owned the lot as early as 1881; and records indicate, in 1936, that the monument had "settled" and new foundation beams were installed. John C. Anderson (1837-1913) was in the tobacco business in New York City and after selling the business settled in the New Haven area. The three family members buried here are: Harriet M., John C. and Harry P. Anderson. See IAS files for additional information on John C. Anderson.
