    (Incised on Pylon 1, rear:) Erected 1938/by Act of Congress/of the/United States of America (Incised on Pylon 1, front:) Here with the found/ing of this Nation's/first colony and es/tablishment of the/first American civil/government west of/the thirteen original/states began the march/of the United States/of America across a/continent to the/western sea. (Incised on Pylon 2, front:) The Ordinance of 1787/contained the United/States first govern/mental recognition of/the "Rights of Man."/Not included in the Constitution when/adopted they were/later added until all/of them are now a part/of our organization. (Incised on Pylon 3, rear:) To those unfamed cit/izens who conceived/a new purpose and di/rection for this nation/in its making and/whose insistence upon/incorporation of the/"Rights of Man" into/our fundamental law/set the pattern for/America's contribution/to the governmental/progress of humanity. (Incised on Pylon 4, front:) Here the new United/States of America/found through North/west territory, the/first and common off/spring of thirteen/discordant and dis/putations states, her/formula to eminence/among all the gov/ernments of mankind.
