The memorial consists of a hexagonal column covered with gray marble tile and topped with an urn containing a perpetual flame. On the front of the column is a plaque depicting the 2506th Brigade's coat of arms, a Cuban flag wrapped around a cross. On each side of the column are commemorative inscription plaques. At the foot of the column is a small hexagonal base that rests on a larger hexagonal base which is ringed with a iron chain. The chain is threaded around six artillery shells mounted one at each corner of the larger hexagonal base.

The sculpture pays tribute to the efforts of 2506th Brigade, which made an unsuccessful effort in April 1961 to overthrow Castro's regime in Cuba. Monolo Reboso was a veteran of the Bay of Pigs invasion. In May of 1984 vandals set a stack of tires on fire on the sculpture causing a crack in the marble from the heat and leaving a pile of soot.
