    Description: 
    Bronze medallion depicting three soldiers in Revolutionary War dress, representing the battles of New Castle, Bunker Hill, and Bennington. Nine stars signify New Hampshire's status as ninth state in the union. Figures are pictured in profile, kneeling in a row and facing proper right; they are aiming raised muskets as though to fire straight ahead. The state of New Hampshire is delineated in the background. The medallion is set in an upright four-sided base of granite.

    Remarks: 
    Verani designed the relief as her entry in the competition for the New Hampshire state bicentennial coin. Monument commemorates 99 men from Londonderry who fought in the American Revolution; granite base includes a shallow recess to hold future plaque bearing names of the 99. Sculpture was dedicated as part of town's celebration of Bicentennial Old Home Day, August 21, 1976. Cost of medallion was $520. IAS files contain related excerpt from: Ferne F. Schmidtcher, "History of Londonderry, 1900-1976," vol. 3, 1977, pg. 238-240; and photocopy of McGann Bronze invoice dated 7/28/76.
