    Description: 
    Exedra consists of a central pedestal topped by an eagle with partly open wings. Three figures stand on pedestals; one in the center and the others on either end of the seating area. The center figure is uniformed World War I soldier, standing at attention with his rifle in front of him. A uniformed Civil War soldier appears in a similar stance on the left pedestal. A female figure in a mid-calf length dress and apron stands on the right pedestal. Pedestals are joined to the central portion by incised tablets which serve as backing for the seating area. Three markers in front of the monument honor those who served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, in Grenada, Panama and the Persian Gulf War.

    Remarks: 
    Erected under the auspices of the Col. J. M. Shivers Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Orville Carver Post no. 100, American Legion in tribute to Pearl River County citizens who served in military conflicts from the Civil War to the Persian Gulf War and the women who supported the war efforts at home. The County appropriated $10,000 for the monument and the landscaping of the grounds. The figures were executed in Italy and cost $500 each. Mrs. Whitten of Pearl River County was photographed in period dress,and this photo was used as the model for the female figure. The work is lighted with a central footlight.
