Carter/1953 signed Description:  Non-traditional carved cedar totem pole, incorporating the artist's own original designs with designs from Pacific Northwest and South Pacific cultures. A bird totem is at the top of the pole, with wings and beak. At the bottom of the pole is a figurative animal mounted horizontally around the pole. Parts of the pole are painted with white, orange and blue highlights. The pole sits on a square painted concrete base.
