Inscription:  (On plaque on front of base, raised:) ATTAKAPA INDIAN/ROVING SAVAGE TRIBE/WHO SETTLED HERE/PRIOR TO THE FRENCH/PARTLY CHRISTIANIZED/AND CIVILIZED BY/MISSIONARIES/DEDICATED/NOVEMBER 5, 1961 signed Description:  A figure of an Attakapa Indian, wearing traditional native clothing, stands holding a feathered scepter in his proper right hand and a pipe in his proper left hand. He wears a headpiece and two large earrings. Strapped to his back is a quiver of arrows. The figure stands atop a multitiered base that is situated within a circular garden setting.
