He is/dressed in a traditional cloak with a/high felted collar to protect the neck/from sword blows. signed Founder's mark appears.
Description:
Seated figure of Shamil, dressed in a battle vest, knee boots, a traditional cloak with a high felted collar to protect the neck from sword blows and a regal helmet. A sword is laying on his lap. His proper right hand is grasping the hilt and his proper left hand is grasping the lower hilt above the sword blade.

Remarks:
Shamil was a 19th century mountain warrior who spent 25 years fighting czarist forces for the independence of his region, Daghestan. Gift of the City of Makhachkala, Spokane's sister city, in Daghestan. Figure was created in the Soviet Union.
