Description:
Oval-shaped stone abstract sculpture featuring two round bronze reliefs on each side, one bearing an image of the University of Arkansas' Academic Support Building (former location of the law school), and the other depicting Silas Hunt standing in profile next to a sign reading "University of Arkansas." The sculpture rests atop a trapezoid-shaped steel base painted black. Surrounding the sculpture are four square pedestals, three inscribed across the top with the story of Hunt's integration of the University of Arkansas Law School. The fourth pedestal bears a round bronze relief depicting Silas Hunt, flanked by activist Wiley Branton, who helped to integrate the University of Arkansas School of Law, and attorney Harold Flowers, as Silas Hunt applies for admission to the University of Arkansas Law School in 1948.

Remarks:
The memorial honors Silas Hunt, the first African American law student at the University of Arkansas. The sculpture is the first work of art commissioned by the university’s Public Art Oversight Committee.
