The Governor's Reception Room is adorned with four large murals by Gari Melchers dedicated to the theme of education in Missouri. Susan Elizabeth Blow, who was born in St. Louis in 1843, studied the education methods of Germany's Froebel and later formed those theories into practical applications with the establishment in St. Louis of a school for training kindergarten teachers.
