Description:
Primitive interior scene with Mr. Nathan Hawley (1765-1810), his wife, Elisabeth Sears (1763-1846), and their eight children. Mr. Hawley is seated at a table with an open book in his hand. Mrs. Hawley is seated at left near a window with her baby George (1800-1893) in her lap and Samuel (1796-1852) standing beside her with an open book. Elisabeth (1786-1870) stands and holds a fan. Comfort Sears (1788-1874) stands at far right and holds a flower. Aaron (1790-1879) also stands at right and holds a bouquet of flowers. Izra (1792-1823) stands at center and holds a battledore. Harvey (1794-1833) stands in a back room. Henry (1798-ca. 1840) stands between his parents.
