Description:
A room inside the Museo Correr, a museum housing the Teodoro Correr collection bequeathed to the city of Venice in 1830. The view depicts the Green Lacquer Room as it was installed when the Museo Correr was located on the Grand Canal, around 1912-1922. The green lacquered furniture shown includes a mid-eighteenth century Venetian chinoiserie commode flanked by two armchairs upholstered in painted silk. On top of the commode are two Chinese polychrome figures and a small lacquered box, above which is a Venetian mirror with a pierced frame. Hanging on the wall are three paintings --on one side a painting of the Madonna by Rosalba Carriera, and a pastel of Veduta del Canal Grande a San Vio by a follower of Canaletto, and on the other side a painting of the Colloquio tra bautte by Pietro Longhi.
