    Description: 
    Full-length portrait of Ramon de Castro, Spanish governor of Puerto Rico, standing in a room in the Castle of San Cristobal and pointing with his proper left hand the Forts of San Jeronimo and San Antonio during the siege by the English in April-May 1797. He wears military uniform with red pants and vest and a black coat with red and gold details. He holds his hat and staff with his proper right hand. To the right there is a small column with the governor's coat of arms and below his biography and military history.

    Remarks: 
    Painting commemorates the courage and fearlessness of Governor de Castro succesfully defending Puerto Rico from the English siege in 1797. Campeche took part in this event as a member of the Urban Militia.
