Description:
In the House of Representative, the second of five murals commemorating the history of Massachusetts depicts the April 18, 1689 arrest of Governor Edmund Andros, who ruled Colonial Massachusetts and nearby colonies following the 1884 revocation of the Massachusetts Bay Charter that was granted by King Charles I in 1629. An official of the Massachusetts colonists is shown taking Governor Andros into custody as he emerges from Fort Hill accompanied by his assistants. Andros submits to the arrest, though nearby angry colonists gather, and appear ready for a fight should the Governor resist.
