Medium:  Watercolor on paper. Dimensions:  5 1/2 x 7 1/4 in. Inscription:  (On reverse, written by artist:) View of the 'Van Kleek House,' Poughkeepsie, as it appeared a few weeks before it was demolished in 1835. In it the legislature of the State of New York held its first session in 1788. The sketch was made by me just before it was taken down. It stood on Mill Street, just above the present Vassar Street, and was the property of Matthew Vassar, Jr. Benson J. Lossing.
