    Description: 
    Panoramic carved brick bas-relief depicting historic, cultural, and architectural scenes of Reading locality, including rowhouses and prominent buildings such as the courthouse, library, high school, and Trinity Lutheran Church. Also includes railroad and mining scenes, blacksmith foundry, old mill waterwheel, Amish buggy, barn, cows, all set within circular "wheels of progress."

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture was created at part of a historical renovation project for the Penn Square area in downtown Reading. When commissioned, the bank was known as the American Bank & Trust Company. Work on the mural was completed at the Glen Gery Brick Company (Clearfield, Pennsylvania). IAS files contain copy of correspondence with artist, Jan. 9, 1995.
