Two sculptures -- a miniature model of the Bethany Lutheran Church and a portrait of Lutheran pastor Olof Olsson. The church has a slanted sod roof and windows on the sides which once held glass. The sculptures are set atop tapered bases constructed of small pieces of brown native sandstone with concrete caps.

Remarks:
The sculptures were the first is a series of miniatures done by the artist in the early 1930s. The sculptures commemorate Olof Olsson, a Lutheran pastor who led a group of emigrants from Varmland, Sweden in 1869 to found the village of Lindsborg. Bethany Lutheran Church was the first church built in the Smoky Valley. IAS files contain a related article from the Hutchinson News, July 10, 1938 and clipping from Kansas City Times, July 1934.
