Proper right hand holds book on right knee; bookcover inscribed "Hic Liber est Adventus Domini." Proper left hand wears ring with black rectangular stone and holds spectacles. Sitter has white hair, moustache, and goatee. Dark red drape behind head is pulled back to reveal landscape (building, courtyard, garden, tree, fields, and sky) of Cairnwood estate.
