Description:
Three relief panels, representing Research and Discovery, Finance and Production over entrance to building. "Research and Discovery" shows two figures in a laboratory setting, one holds test tube, the other reads in a book. "Finance" contains five figures, four in contemporary business suits and the center figure in judicial-type robes. This figure represents the Exchange, and sits on a throne, on either side of which is a bull and a bear. "Production" has two steel workers working with molten metal. The airplane engine over their heads suggests what they are building.

Remarks:
When the sculpture was created, the building was known as the Los Angeles Stock Exchange. It later became known as the Pacific Stock Exchange. The Parkinsons served as consulting architects. IAS files contain copies of related articles from the Los Angeles Times, Jan. 27, 1995, Sec. E pg. 1-2, and the journal The Architect and Engineer, vol. 104: no.3 entitled "The Los Angeles Stock Exchange Building," by Frederick W. Jones. IAS files also contain a citation to "Los Angeles Architecture Guide," by David Gebhard, pg. 238.
