Description:
Sculpture consists of a large anchor, on which a post has been added with five "cut-out" named commercial ships of various sizes, painted (from top to bottom) orange, blue, yellow, green, and red respectively. The types of ships, with names, include: tugboat Carolyn Hoey; self-unloader Paul R. Tregurtha; oceangoing bulk carrier Kupa; self-unloader Myron C. Taylor; and cement carrier Medusa Challenger. The sculpture is set within a circular planter and surrounded by six plaques, five of which give detailed information about the ships depicted.

Remarks:
Sculpture overlooks the Detroit River, which has always been an important maritime route for commerce and travel for Detroit, and shows five kinds of commercial vessels that might be seen in the river. Markers placed at other locations within the park give the length of each the five vessels depicted. IAS files contain full transcriptions of the plaques that surround the sculpture.
