In 1976, when D&H Distributing prepared to move to Savage, Maryland, the sculpture was sold to Jim and Eva Wells who installed in on their property along Lee Highway in Fairfax County, Virginia. In 1996, when Jim and Eva Wells sold their Virginia property, the Baltimore City Life Museums acquired the sculpture. Two years later when the Baltimore City Life Museums closed, Nipper came to the Maryland Historical Society and was installed along the roof of their museum.
