    Description: 
    Figures of famous racehorse Nashua and his long-time groom, Clem Brooks, on top of a black granite base. Brooks is standing to the proper left of Nashua with both hands holding Nashua's reins. Brooks is wearing a uniform and cap. Nashua's proper right hoof is slightly raised.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture marks the gravestone of Nashua (1952-1982), a championship racehorse. He won 22 races, including the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. The stone base, from South Africa, was set in 1982, two years before the sculpture was completed. IAS files contain related newspaper clippings from the Courier-Journal (Louisville, KY) May 4, 1994, pg. 1; and the Herald-Leader (Lexington, KY), April 3, 1994, pg. 15.
