Brooks is standing to the proper left of Nashua with both hands holding Nashua's reins. Brooks is wearing a uniform and cap. Nashua's proper right hoof is slightly raised. He won 22 races, including the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes. The stone base, from South Africa, was set in 1982, two years before the sculpture was completed.
