The monument features four military dogs, a Doberman Pinscher, German Shepherd, Labrador Retriever, and Belgian Malinois, surrounding a handler dressed in uniform, a rifle held in his right hand. The handler and dogs are installed atop a round granite base.

This monument honoring military dogs serving in all branches of the armed services since World War II is scheduled to be installed at Lackland Air Force Base in late 2013. The working dog teams receive their basic and advanced training at Lackland.
