    Remarks:
This terra cotta sculpture, created in the 1984 by Hillis Arnold, is a replica created from recollections of Carl Milles' original ca. 1930 plaster model submitted for approval to adorn Memorial Hall at the St. Paul City Hall and Ramsey County Courthouse Memorial Hall. The City Commissioners investigated casting the full size sculpture in glass, and Corning Glass spent a year researching the possibilities, but the results were not as hoped for. This design was one of three not selected by the City Commissioners, who favored Milles' later submission, "God of Peace" model (IAS record 71500547), from which the full size sculpture was created and installed at Memorial Hall in 1936 (IAS record (76000147).
