    Description: 
    A welded steel structure composed of five two-dimensional panels, painted cobalt blue, with cut out shapes of Victorian-style towers and steeples. There is a flag on top of the tallest tower. At night, a pastel glow emits from the four windows in the panels where neon lighting is concealed. The sculpture is set on a concrete foundation and is part of a larger landscaped traffic island design that includes a brick sidewalk, a limestone seating bench, a hedge of shrub roses, and daisies.

    Remarks: 
    The sculpture cost $65,000, raised by the Highland Neighborhood Association through membership dues and fundraising projects, corporate donations, and $34,000 from the Fifth Ward's discretionary fund. Funding included $12,500 from the city government and $2,500 from the Greater Louisville Fund for the Arts. The idea for the Highland Island Landmark Project arose out of an effort to improve the appearance of the traffic island. The artists consider the entire island a unified concept consisting of both the Turrets and the landscape design. The shrub roses refer to the area's original name, "Briar Patch," and the daisies recall a time when the area was rural. The artists were assisted by project general manager, N.I.L. Engineering, project construction manager, Mohammad B. Nouri, painter James Rollins, and the welding firm of Art Metal Works, owned by Bill Gast. The sculpture was dedicated on September 30, 1990 as part of the Highland Island festival, an annual street fair. The sculpture sits near the heart of the Highland Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
