Remarks:
This piece is one of twelve cornice sculptures on the United States Customs House. Each of the statues represents an ancient and modern seafaring and commercial power. Inventory image files contain a photograph of all twelve sculptures and the photograph is filed with Karl Bitter's (Cartouche with Seal of the United States) IAS 87870013.
