    Description: 
    The column is part of a larger retaining wall. It is made up of approximately 25 layers of rocks pitching to the east. The colors range from shades of off-white to beige, reds and terra cotta.

    Remarks: 
    Gift of General William Jackson Palmer. The rocks were quarried from Palmer's Glen Eyrie castle in Queen's Canyon, north of the Garden of the Gods. Some patch work has been done and there are bolts in the column, which may or may not have been there when constructed. IAS files include an excerpt from "Trips on Twos: 15 Walking Tours of Colorado Springs," by Leslie and Kim Bergstrom, 1978.
