Remarks:
The sculpture was a joint project of the Baton Rouge Bicentennial Commission and Southern University. The three panels that make up the sculpture symbolize the past, present, and the future. The triangular motif creates "a tent-like formation, an allusion to the Choctaw Indians who placed the original pole on the bluff." IAS files contain a photocopy of the dedication program and a related brochure.
