    Remarks:
The artist was inspired by the story of Cortes and Malinche and depicts War and Love. The idea for a landscaped setting with public art originated with the Tobin Hill Neighborhood Association in 1979. They were awarded $7,000 in funding for their efforts as part of a contest sponsored by Crown Bank. The sculpture may have been commissioned by Arthur P. "Hap" Veltman, Jr., downtown developer, who died before its dedication. IAS files contain related newsclippings from Express News (San Antonio, TX), Feb. 10, 1988, Aug. 11, 1988, pg.
