    "The Pilgrims sailed from Plymouth, England, on September 16, 1620. They are depicted on the first sighting of land in North America on November 9. Simon Brewster, William Bradford, John Carver, Miles Standish, and John Alden are represented allegorically; the only portrait is of Edward Winslow."
