Remarks:
The busts and tower are sited on Kill Devil Hill (a high mound) overlooking the airfield used by the Wright brothers. Alfred Easton Poor designed the monument; Hansen created the busts. In July 1985, the busts were lost, vandalized and recovered; they were stolen in April 1987 and recovered in October 1989. In 1987, copies of the busts were made by Sheidow Bronze Corporation, cast from a duplicate set located at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
