    Description:
A collection of 19th century cast metal fountains and concrete animals adorn the esplanades of Woodruff Place, a planned community of the late 1870s. Most significant are the three large fountains at the intersections along Cross Drive.
The fountain at East Drive is topped by a Classical female figure with water flowing from an urn that she holds on top of her head. The basin below her is supported by three Classical maidens and the basin below them is supported by a group of children and geese. The fountain at Middle Drive is topped by a group of cattails centered above a small basin that is supported by three young girls kneeling back to back. The fountain at West Drive is topped by two putti above a small basin that is supported by three fish above a large basin supported by a pedestal adorned with lion heads. A small fountain in the esplanade at 750 North West Drive features a barefoot female figure above a pedestal adorned with cattails and water lilies.
Scattered throughout the esplanades of Woodruff Place are concrete sculptures of a wolf, a male deer, and two recumbent male lions --one alert and one asleep. In addition, a gazebo and nearly thirty decorated urns dot the esplanades. All of this represents fraction of what was originally in Woodruff Place, but restoration efforts are underway to recreate more of the original fountains and sculptures.
