    Description: 
    Six relief wall panels depicting the historical settling of Roanoke Island at time of the Revolution. Two reliefs depict specific historical events; the other four depict professions of the time. The landing of the English on Roanoke Island consists of American Indians and English colonists flanking a ship. The Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence contains four figures around a table drawing up a document. Education is a female figure with a child. The Stevedores are two male figures with a crate and a ship in the background. The Colonial Chemist and Fisherman are each single figures holding apparatus associated with their work.
