Baseline, (sculpture). Artist:  Grygutis, Barbara, 1946- , sculptor. Title:  Baseline, (sculpture). Dates:  1987. Medium:  Stoneware and glazed brick. Inscription:  unsigned Description:  An environmental sculpture with three components. One is an arch (approximately 7 ft. 4 in. x 5 ft. x 10 in.), of glazed ceramic blocks. It stands in an 8 ft. diameter pool of water at the entry to the courtyard. Rivulets of water come from inside the arch. One the west side of the courtyard, a semi-circular pool (16 ft. diameter) contains a line of 11 individual elements of glazed ceramic blocks. The row is 13 ft. 9 in. long; tallest element: 7 ft. 8 in. Opposite this is a curvilinear pool, 132 ft. long, bordered by glazed bricks, river rock, and large stones. Two free-standing forms of stacked ceramic blocks stand at east end of pool. Two arches are also in the pool. Glazed blocks range in color from yellow ochre to pale lavender.
