    A ten-year old boy stands wearing a baseball cap and a t-shirt, with his proper left hand inside a baseball glove. The proper right hand is in the catching area of the glove. The figure is atop a plinth, which is atop a square base.

    Cast number seven in an edition of fifty.
    The model for the figure was the artist's nephew Pete. Donated by Shocker fans Shannon and Gerry Michaud who saw it at an art show and decided that it belonged in Wichita, where their favorite team, the Shockers, play baseball. Nearby plaque reads: "First Mitt"/By George Lundeen/Donated to/The WSU Shockers/from the Collection of/Gerald L and Shannon Michaud. IAS files contain related articles from Wichita Eagle, June 5, 1993; and the Rocky Mountain News, Sept. 21, 1992. IAS files contain another related article.
