"A granite drum of the type used in military bands mounted at an angle on a granite base. The base carries the raised capital letters MUSTERED OUT."

Remarks:
The Town of Litchfield set aside Soldier's Lot in West Cemetery, and raised the monument in 1894 for the burial of soldiers not having lots of their own. IAS files contain a photocopy of the 1905 Payne text which illustrates the sculpture.
