Description:
Three granite high-relief panels set on the front face of a grave marker. The center panel is a relief portrait of Sam Houston on horseback, as general in command of the Texas Army. Flanking the center panel are panels featuring allegorical figures of Victory and History. History holds the first chapter of Texas history. The marker is surrounded by a black iron fence.

Remarks:
The fence, as well as the sculpture, were designed by Coppini. IAS files contain transcription of nearby plaque which discusses the dedication ceremony. IAS files contain copy of related excerpt from Pompeo Coppini's "From Dawn to Sunset", San Antonio: The Naylor Company, 1949, pg. 172-173.
