    Description: 
    A highly-polished white marble piece, an abstract sculpture "resembling twisted masses of muscle and bone." The formed shape is somewhat oval, with a cut-out hole in the center.

    Remarks: 
    Commissioned by Sara Lee's founder, Nathan Cummings in the late 1960s. In 1982 the Sara Lee Corporation bought this sculpture, and two other Poncet sculptures owned by Cummings, and installed them at their Deerfield bakery. In 1990 when Sara Lee moved its Deerfield bakery, Deerfield officials asked Sara Lee to donate the pieces to the village. Sara Lee agreed to donate, restore and move the pieces for the village. IAS files contain related articles from Chicago Tribune, Dec. 6, 1991, Sec. 2, pg. 10. and Deerfield Review (Deerfield, IL), Dec. 5, 1991, pg. 9, and a copy of remarks given at the dedication ceremony.
