One of these circles is smooth and is inscribed with numbers from 1 to 12 which are repeated. The other two circles have indented marks in their surfaces. The gnomon, or arrow-like structure, is the pointer or shadow arm. It is made of bronze and is oriented toward the North Pole in the Northern Hemisphere. There is a small bronze figure, resembling a greek man, perhaps Atlas, that supports the sundial. The sundial is bolted to the wood pedestal. The wood pedestal is centered on a stone base.
