    Description: 
    Full-length standing female figure. She is barefoot, clothed in a loose dress with a veil draped over her head. Her face is tilted upward and her eyes are closed. Both arms are raised and her fingertips are pressed against her cheeks.

    The museum purchased the sculpture with funds provided by the Edward J. Gallagher, Jr. Memorial fund. The model for the sculpture is Evelia, from Veracruz. IAS files contain transcription on nearby plaque and excerpt from collection catalog published by the museum, "Painting & Sculpture in the Permanent Collection," ed. Peter Bermingham, Univ. of Arizona Museum of Art, Tucson, 1983, pg. 227 which gives additional bibliographic citations and exhibition history.
