Description:
Totem pole features traditional Tlingit symbols to represent the oil industry. Raven the creator tops the pole, standing on the sun which he brought to mankind. As Creator, Raven put the oil in the ground. Below the sun is a sea monster holding a "copper" or Indian currency, to represent resources needed to drill for oil. The power to raise oil from the ground is represented by a legendary strong man who tears a sea lion in two. A beaver, a symbol of industriousness is at the bottom.
