Description:
Uniformed Civil War soldier stands atop a tall, ornate, obelisk-like pillar. The figure wears a long coat, cap and moustache. He holds his rifle in front on him with both hands around the barrel and the butt at his feet. The pillar contains many decorative reliefs and stands on a tiered base. Reliefs include a bust of George Washington on the south side, Abraham Lincoln on the east, Ulysses Grant on the west and a Union soldier on the north.

Remarks:
Erected in 1883 or 1885 by John Means as a grave marker for Civil War veterans. The monument was restored in 1959 by the American Legion. IAS files include a related article which details the restoration work and the names and text found on the base.
