    Standing figure of man dressed in military uniform with high boots, open coat, sash at waist, and bicorne hat. Papers in proper left hand. Male figure with bare legs seated behind, with proper left leg crossed over proper right knee. Large flag draped on pole behind figures.

    Remarks: 
    Gift from German government to Louisiana Purchase International Exhibition, 1904. Sculpture may be model for larger commission. In 2004, the sculpture underwent restoration and a missing sword was replaced. Plans called for the sculpture to be relocated to the east end of a gated plaza between the Park's Plant House and Palm House.
