Description:
A bust of Senator Robert Alphonso Taft is mounted atop a straight-sided, simple, column-like pedestal that tapers from top to bottom. The pedestal sits on a rectangular footer in a landscaped traffic circle.

Remarks:
The sculpture commemorates Robert Alphonso Taft, 1889-1953, who was a successful lawyer and an active Republican in Cincinnati politics from 1919 to 1939. He served as a United States Senator from 1939 until his death. The sculpture was commissioned through the Thomas J. Emery Memorial Foundation for $5,000. Plaque at foot of base front reads: HONORED BY STATE AND NATION/AND THE PEOPLE OF CINCINNATI/WHO KNEW HIM BEST AND REVERED HIM MOST/ERECTED BY/THE THOMAS J. EMERY MEMORIAL/OF WHICH HE WAS A TRUSTEE.
The sculpture was to be located in Lytle Park in downtown Cincinnati, however, it has been on long-term loan to the Cincinnati Art Museum since 1960, and its permanent installation has yet to be determined.
