(On cross near bottom:) TO GOD BE/THE GLORY/1987/TOS ROD/PATTON signed Description:  A crucifix carved from a standing tree using chainsaws for the overall sculpting, a mallet and chisel to carve the eyes, and knives to smooth the figure. The figure of Christ is very traditional. His skin appears to have been stained a light peach color. He wears a white loincloth and a crown of thorns. Near the bottom of the cross is a mallet and chisel carved in relief, and abtracted figures of several women also carved in relief.
